Though limited to the edges of a canvas, landscapes capture the unending place where the earth meets the sky. For her exhibition, “Earth to Sky,” Sonja Mattson-Barnes explores the wildness of landscape paintings through dreamy techniques that reject rigidity. Like the landscapes she paints, the oil paintings presented in this exhibition seem to evolve as they are explored, with an innate appreciation for the beauty and indifference of the natural world. This collection of Sonja’s works present horizons that feel both timeless and ephemeral, and invite viewers to be part of a moment real, imagined, or remembered.

It Always Does
Art allows us to study the binding threads between elements and people, whether it’s our connection to nature or to each other. When discussing ideas for this exhibit, artist Barbara Hranilovich hoped that the blending of new works would “come toget her,” to which fellow exhibition artist Deborah Cholewicki responded, “It always does!” From this conversation, their joint exhibition, “It Always Does,” was formed. Barbara and Deborah explore themes of life, nature, and togetherness. Their works refl ect the importance of connections in our lives, and the healing power they can hold. With mediums ranging from fibers to gouache, the works presented were carefully selected to spark joy, curiosity, and a sense of common ground.
Melodic Undertones
Beloved local artist Brian Whitfield creates paintings, murals and 3D collages that challenge conventional boundaries, blurring the line between the flatness of canvas and the dimensionality of sculpture. Through his innovative blending of mediums, Brian crafts a symphony of shapes and textures that invites viewers to experience art as a dynamic dialogue.
